Why Choose Us

Why Choose I.M. International?

For over two decades, textile businesses across Australia, New Zealand and 60+ international markets have relied on one Melbourne-based partner to turn fibre specifications into delivered, certified, production-ready yarn. I.M. International (Aust) Pty. Ltd. is a proudly Australian-owned yarn trading house that has supplied premium cotton, wool, polyester and blended yarn to fabric mills, garment manufacturers, sock producers and knitters since 2002.

Choosing a yarn supplier is a decision about reliability, technical accuracy and trust. Below is exactly what sets I.M. International apart — every point grounded in how we actually source, sample, certify and ship.

Australian Expertise with Global Reach

I.M. International has been trading yarn since 2002 — 24+ years of experience built into every consignment. We are Australian-owned, headquartered at Suite 316, 566 St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, and our roots are firmly in supporting Australian and New Zealand textile manufacturing. Many of the customers we serve produce goods carrying the “Made in Australia” label, and supporting that local manufacturing base remains central to who we are.

That local expertise is backed by genuine international infrastructure. We operate warehousing across Australia and New Zealand, plus the international shipping hub of Singapore, giving us efficient logistics and fast transit across the Southern Hemisphere and beyond. Under the leadership of CEO Imran Iqbal, the company describes itself as a one-stop operation with a simple mission: making sourcing easier and simpler for its customers.

Quality You Can Trust

Every consignment carries pre-shipment quality inspection reports and full certification documentation, so your customs clearance and quality-assurance teams have everything they need on arrival. Our sourcing draws on relationships with vetted spinning mills across India, Pakistan, (Add Indonesia), China, Vietnam, Turkey and Italy, and our professional quality-inspection teams check that the yarn you receive matches the specification you ordered — consistent count, controlled twist and verified moisture, ready for the loom or knitting cylinder. We supply both carded and combed cotton because the right choice depends on your end product: carded for durable, economical applications like denim and workwear; combed for the cleaner, softer, more lustrous yarn premium T-shirts and fine knitwear demand.

Reliable Global Supply

Reliable supply is what keeps a production line running. Our large-scale warehousing across Melbourne holds ready stock of the highest-demand cotton, wool, polyester and blended yarn — shorter lead times when you need urgent supply, stable inventory when you're forecasting a season ahead. (Add “we have large scale warehousing across Australia, New Zealand and the international shipping hub of Singapore.) From our Melbourne (instead of Melbourne base, change it to “Large scale warehousing bases”) base we ship to buyers across Southeast Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East and North America, with typical transit times of 12–25 days to Southeast Asia, 28–40 days to Europe and 30–45 days to South America. Whatever your destination port or Incoterms, chances are we have shipped there before.

Free Product Sampling

Free sampling is standard for every product we supply. We ship representative samples — typically 500 g to 2 kg per specification — at our own cost by international courier. You run your trial on your own machines and only proceed to a commercial order once you're satisfied. No charge, no obligation, no follow-up sales pressure.

Expertise Across Textile Applications

Our sourcing, sampling and shipping process is built around how commercial buyers actually buy:

Certified & Responsible Yarn Supply

Certifications are the strongest guarantee of what is — and isn't — in your yarn. We supply against every major international textile certification, including OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS (organic cotton), BCI (sustainable cotton), GRS (recycled content), RWS (responsible wool), Woolmark (wool purity) and FSC (for modal and viscose), plus REACH compliance for EU-bound shipments. Every certification is verifiable via the issuing body's public certificate database — we provide certificate numbers with every relevant shipment, so buyers can independently confirm scope and validity.

Flexible Supply & Shipping Solutions

Our standard minimum order is one container-load (roughly 6–11 tonnes for a 20ft FCL, 15–23 tonnes for a 40ft HQ. Add that stuffing capacity will change depending on the particular yarn). For smaller volumes, our mixed-container shipments consolidate two to five yarn types into a single container — making 2–3 tonne specifications commercially viable when combined with other line items. This is what makes us a natural partner for sock manufacturers sourcing a full bill of materials, and for wholesalers building a mixed consignment. (Add “ The final MOQ will depend on the MOQ of the manufacturer or supplier”) (Add “ We are also able to do LCL shipments if required. Depending on the specific MOQ of the supplier.”) We ship under all standard Incoterms 2020 — FOB, CIF, CFR, EXW, DAP and DDP — quoted to suit your freight-forwarder relationships, insurance preference and how much destination-country customs work your team handles.
