Nylon 6
I.M. International is a global nylon yarn supplier shipping Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 yarn to fabric manufacturers, hosiery and sock manufacturers, industrial textile mills, and sportswear producers worldwide. Nylon’s combination of strength, elasticity, and abrasion resistance makes it the workhorse yarn for socks, activewear, lingerie, and technical textiles — and our Melbourne-based trading operation has supplied nylon yarn into these end-uses since 2002 with free sampling, mixed-container shipments, and pre-shipment quality control on every order.

Nylon 66 applications:
We supply both major nylon yarn types used throughout the textile industry: Nylon 6 and Nylon 66. Many sock and hosiery manufacturers require Nylon 6 for the main body of the product and Nylon 66 for heel and toe reinforcement due to its superior strength and durability. By sourcing both through a single supplier, customers can simplify procurement and cover their complete product specification with one order.
Sock and hosiery manufacturers represent one of our core customer segments globally. Our nylon yarn supply is supported by extensive experience supplying manufacturers producing performance socks, everyday hosiery, sportswear, and technical textile products. We understand the quality, consistency, and delivery requirements critical to these production environments.
In addition to pure nylon yarns, we supply wool-nylon blends, polyester-nylon blends, and other specialty yarn combinations commonly used in sock and hosiery production. This enables manufacturers to source multiple fibre requirements through a single trading partner, reducing administrative complexity and improving purchasing efficiency.
Nylon performance depends on precise technical characteristics including tenacity, denier, elasticity, and consistency. Every consignment is inspected against agreed specifications before loading to verify compliance with your requirements. This process helps minimise quality risks and prevents costly supply issues from reaching your warehouse or production facility.
Before committing to a commercial shipment, simply provide your yarn specification and we will supply complimentary samples for testing. Your knitting, weaving, or manufacturing operation can verify product performance under real production conditions, ensuring confidence before placing a container order.
Our mixed-container shipping capability allows customers to combine nylon yarns with wool, polyester, cotton blends, or other fibre types within a single shipment. This approach reduces freight costs, simplifies customs processes, improves inventory management, and makes it commercially efficient to source a complete bill of materials from one supplier.
Both are polyamide fibres, but they’re produced from different monomers. Nylon 6 (made from caprolactam) is softer, has better dye affinity, and is the standard for apparel, hosiery, and consumer textiles. Nylon 66 (made from hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid) has higher tensile strength, better heat resistance, and greater dimensional stability — making it the preferred choice for industrial fabric, automotive applications, and technical textiles. We supply both.
Yes — textured nylon (typically DTY, drawn textured yarn) is one of our regular hosiery supply lines. Textured nylon offers the stretch and recovery that pantyhose, stockings, and shaping garments depend on. Available in fine denier ranges suitable for sheer hosiery applications.
Yes — high-denier Nylon 66 yarn for industrial and automotive applications including tyre cord, conveyor belts, and heavy fabric is part of our range. These are technical-specification products and we work directly to your buyer’s specification. Please enquire with full specification and required volume.
Nylon and polyester are often used together in socks rather than chosen between. Nylon delivers superior elasticity, recovery, and abrasion resistance (excellent for heel and toe reinforcement); polyester delivers shape retention, moisture management, and cost stability. Premium sock specifications typically use a combination of wool (for comfort), polyester (for bulk), and nylon (for durability). We supply all three for sock manufacturers, which is why mixed-container shipments are particularly valuable for this customer type.
Whether you require fine-denier nylon yarn for hosiery, textured nylon yarn for sportswear, or heavy-duty industrial nylon yarn, we supply high-quality products tailored to your specifications. Our team will provide a competitive quotation within one business day and ship free product samples so you can verify quality and performance before placing your order.
